Learn how to connect your email with Picky Assist

SMTP means Simple Mail Transport Protocol the technology behind sending and receiving emails across different email providers, as SMTP is a global standard in sending and receiving messages because of this global standard we are able to send email from our Gmail account to a Yahoo email account as both the company make use of SMTP protocol

Picky Assist allows you to connect any SMTP email provider account as an email channel helps you to send event-based transactional or marketing emails

Kindly note Picky Assist doesn't offer any email delivery services so you must connect to any of the email service providers with Picky Assist in order to send messages

SMTP General Configuration Settings

You need to fill in the SMTP settings in your Picky Assist account under Settings -> Channels -> SMTP https://pickyassist.com/alpha/settings/channels

Click on Connect button as shown below;

You need to fill in the correct information as provided by your email service provider in the popup as shown below;

Channel Name

You can give a name to your email channel which helps you to identify this later

Channel Icon

Select any channel icon which will show you wherever email channel selection is needed this helps you to identify the channel quickly

Server/Host

This is where you need to ask your email service provider mostly it will like mail.yourdomain.com or smtp.yourdomain.com you must ask your email service provider for this info

Port

You need enter the port number from which the email are sending, your email service provider or server admin can give this information

Username

This will be your email address

Password

This will be your email login password

Security Protocal

Your email provider can give this, it could be either SSL or TLS

Email Encryption

Your email provider can tell whether this setting is to be on or off

Require SMTP Authentication

If your email provider needs the SMTP to be authenticated then you must check this field

Connecting your Gmail Account

You can connect your personal or business Gmail account with Picky Assist using SMTP, you need to follow the below guidelines to generate your SMTP settings for Gmail then put them in your Picky Assist account under Settings -> Channels -> SMTP and fill in the below details in the popup window;

Channel Name

You can give a name to your email channel which helps you to identify this later

Channel Icon

Select any channel icon which will show you wherever email channel selection is needed this helps you to identify the channel quickly

Your Gmail address

Password

Your Gmail address password or app password (we encrypt and store the password)

After filling in the required details click on the "Save" button

Generate Gmail App password

If you want to connect your Gmail account to Picky Assist, you may be required to use an App password instead of an account password.

Create & use App Passwords

If you use 2-Step-Verification and get a "password incorrect" error when you sign in, you can try to use an App Password.

1) Go to your Google Account.

2) Select Security.

3) Under "Signing in to Google," select App Passwords. You may need to sign in. If you don’t have this option, it might be because of below reasons;

  • 2-Step Verification is not set up for your account.

  • 2-Step Verification is only set up for security keys.

  • You turned on Advanced Protection.

  • Your account is through work, school, or other organizations.

4) Click App Passwords

5) Login to your google Account

At the bottom,

-> choose Select app and choose the app you using

- > Select device and choose the device you’re using -> Click Generate.

6) Follow the instructions to enter the app password. The App Password is the 16-character code in the yellow bar on your device copy this and click on "Done" you need to use this password with Picky Assist

Testing your Connection

If there are no errors you will get an option to test the connection as shown below;

Click on "Test Connection" and a popup will appear on the screen as shown below where you can enter the email address to send the test email, if required you can edit the email contents or try sending attachments by passing a public url of a file
