# Introduction

Generate GST-compliant invoices for each order. Send them to customers on WhatsApp without leaving Picky Assist.

{% hint style="info" %}
Invoicing is currently available in India only.
{% endhint %}

Support for other countries is planned.

### Overview

Each catalog supports two document layouts:

1. **Tax Invoice** — shows HSN codes, GST rates, and taxable values per item.
2. **Tax Receipt** — provides a simpler receipt layout.

Invoice settings belong to each catalog. This lets each catalog use its own business name, GSTIN, numbering, and layout.

#### What you can configure

From a catalog's **Invoice** tab, you can:

1. Enable or disable invoicing.
2. Set the invoice prefix and starting number.
3. Set the seller business profile.
4. Choose the default Tax Invoice or Tax Receipt layout.
5. Add a signature and printed notes.
6. Set the status that approves and sends invoices.

### Invoice lifecycle

Picky Assist creates an invoice in **Draft** when a customer places an order. The Draft stays synchronized with order changes.

Changes to items, quantities, addresses, and other order details update the Draft invoice.

The invoice becomes **Approved** when the order reaches your selected approval status. If automatic sending is enabled, Picky Assist sends it through WhatsApp then.

Each invoice is approved and sent only once. Enable **Also approve and send if the order skips this status** for orders that advance past the selected status.

#### Send or download an invoice manually

You can send or download an invoice at any order stage.

1. Open the order in **Order 360**.
2. Select **Download Invoice** in the action bar.<br>

3. Use its arrow to choose **Send Invoice** or **Download Invoice**.<br>

**Send Invoice** sends the current invoice through WhatsApp, using the Catalog Settings template. **Download Invoice** saves the PDF without sending it.

These actions work at every order stage, including Draft. Use them to send an invoice early or resend one a customer has lost.

#### Print an invoice

Open the **Print** menu beside **Download Invoice**.

* **Print invoice receipt** prints the GST invoice or receipt.
* **Print Package Invoice** and **Print Shipping Label** support order packaging.
* **Print Both** prints the package invoice and shipping label together.<br>

{% hint style="warning" %}
The order action bar does not show Draft or Approved status. Check **Invoice CRM** before relying on the order stage.
{% endhint %}

### Access invoice settings

1. Go to **Ecommerce**.
2. Open **Catalogs**.
3. Select the catalog to configure.
4. Click **Edit**.
5. Open the **Invoice** tab.

Only one catalog can be active and linked to WhatsApp. Configure the catalog currently taking orders.

Use [Setup](/whatsapp-commerce/invoice/setup.md) to configure numbering, business details, approval timing, and the default layout.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.pickyassist.com/whatsapp-commerce/invoice/introduction.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
